Actions Taken By Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality After The Disaster
SEARCH, RESCUE, and WRECKAGE REMOVAL TEAMS HAVE BEEN DISPATCHED WITHOUT DELAY
Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality dispatched teams to the earthquake area in the early hours of the morning to support the search and rescue and wreckage removal operations after the first earthquake with a magnitude of 7,7 occurred in Kahramanmaraş Pazarcık on Monday, February 6, 2023.
WELL-EQUIPPED SUPPORT for SEARCH and RESCUE OPERATIONS
Under the coordination of AFAD (disaster and emergency management presidency), a team of 25 personnel from the Department of Technical Works, two excavators, two low-bed trucks, two minibusses, three pickup trucks, and a total of 11 vehicles are engaged in the search, rescue, wreckage removal, personnel-material, and equipment transportation operations in the Antakya, İskenderun, and Samandağ districts of Hatay.
In all, a fleet of six vehicles—including a team of 37 personnel from the Department of Fire Brigade, 3 multipurpose intervention vehicles, 2 double cabins D-MAX (with separator-cutter), and 1 utility water tanker—is used for search, rescue, and wreckage removal operations in Hatay.
With two pickups, protective equipment, and search and rescue supplies, a team of 11 personnel from the Department of Municipal Police takes part in the search and rescue operations in İskenderun, Hatay.
MATERIAL and URBAN EQUIPMENT SUPPORT FOR THE EARTHQUAKE ZONE
A team of nine personnel from the Department of Earthquake Risk Management and Urban Improvement is working in the earthquake zone with search and rescue equipment. The team is conducting technical examinations and determinations in the region. Four containers of toilets were also provided to the area.
TRANSPORTATION SUPPORT TO THE AFAD TEKİRDAĞ TEAM
The Department of Transportation provides transportation support to the AFAD Tekirdağ team working in search and rescue activities in Hatay and Adıyaman, with 19 personnel and a fleet of 5 vehicles, including 3 buses, 1 light commercial, and 1 pickup truck.
FUNERAL SERVICES for EARTHQUAKE ZONE
A team of 19 personnel from the Department of Health Affairs supports the execution of funeral services in the earthquake area with a fleet of 6 vehicles consisting of 5 funeral vehicles and 1 minibus. In this context, one emergency medical technician in the team works in İskenderun Hatay while the other eighteen personnel work in funeral services in cooperation with the office of muftis in Kahramanmaraş and Adıyaman provinces with all vehicles.
1250 gauntlet gloves, 4,500 body bags, 140 packages of examination gloves, 40 helmets, 4,000 m cerement, 2,000 overalls, 500 gassal (dead body bather) gowns, 500 dish gloves, 400 bars of soap, 250 lt liquid soap, 250 kg of cotton, 20 dry camphor, 19 pairs of boots, 25 shovels and pickaxes were taken to the earthquake area by the team.
SOCIAL SUPPORT FOR EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS
Two social service experts from the Department of Social Services support earthquake victims in İskenderun Hatay. Additionally, under the Ministry's direction, social workers are evaluating the needs and conditions in the region.
INFRASTRUCTRUCTURE WORKS in EARTHQUAKE ZONE
TESKİ (Tekirdağ Water and Sewerage Administration), a subsidiary of Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality, contributes to the infrastructure services of HATSU (Hatay Water and Sewerage Administration), a subsidiary of Hatay Metropolitan Municipality, with a fleet of 7 vehicles consisting of 18 personnel, water-channel vehicles, and pickups.
